Most garage conversions will require some roofing work. The scale of any roofing work done on your garage conversion will depend on the type and condition of the the pre-existing roof of the garage and on the scale of your requirements, for example if you intend on transforming a flat garage roof to a pitched one as part of the conversion. Conducting a survey on the pre-existing garage can help you ascertain the extent of the work that needs to be done. If the pre-existing garage roof requires maintenance, consider having the complete roof redone in a new style. Pitched tile roofs will typically compliment the appearance of the house, but a flat roof can be less costly.

There are three main varieties of garage roofs: pitched, flat and the less common example where the garage is already a part of a two-storey structure and has a room above it. All three styles will have to meet building regulations as part of the garage conversion. The insulation regulation varies depending on the sort of roof, but a garage conversion will have to meet the insulation values for a habitable room. The other important component with garage conversions roofing is the ceiling height, which can alter as part of the conversion if the existing floor must be elevated to allow for extra insulation.

Get Burnham-on-Sea Pros

Burnham-on-Sea is a town in Somerset, on the mouth of the River Parrett and Bridgewater Bay. Before the eighteenth century, Burnham was a small fishing village. Its expansion started when it became a common seaside resort during the Victorian time, at a time when seaside holidays were extremely trendy. It is part of the parish of Burnham-on-Sea and Heybridge, and it shares a town council with Highbridge, a close by market town. At the time of the 2011 Census, the permanent population of the town was around 20,000. On account of the town’s positioning on the border of the Somerset Levels and moors where they meet the Bristol Channel, Burnham’s history is dominated by land reclamation and sea defences since the Roman era. On account of the town’s position close to the mouth of the River Parrett, there’s a higher threat to ships in the location. Lighthouses are, for that reason, substantial landmarks in the town, with the original lighthouse, the Round Tower, constructed to take over from the light on the top of the fourteenth century town of St. Andrews Church used to lower the number of shipwrecks. The High Lighthouse is 34 metres tall, and one particular lighthouse is referred to as ‘Lighthouse on Legs’. The building of a stone pier was completed in 1858 by the Somerset Central Railway. After its establishment in 1860, a steam service to Wales started, though it wasn’t a commercial success. A second steamer service, concrete pier, built following 3 years of work in 1914, is referred to as the shortest pier in Britain. Despite its compact size, the pier was shortlisted as being one of the top 5 piers in Britain.
